Manna Inc. is a nonprofit developer of affordable rental and ownership housing, a condominium and homeowner associa􀆟on manager, and a HUD approved housing counseling agency. For the past 40 years, Manna has invested over $350 million in District of Columbia neighborhoods and have helped over 2,000 low- and moderate-income households become homeowners. Manna seeks a full-time certified Housing Counselor to join its housing counseling team.

The successful applicant will be a HUD certified Housing Counselor or have the ability to obtain certification through HUD within 90 days of employment.

The Housing Counselor provides education and coaching services in a classroom and one on one setting to discuss topics related to services described above, while managing a continuous client pipeline. Documentation and case management procedures are required as well as best practices in the field of housing counseling.

Due to the nature of this work, being diligent in follow-up with clients, being meticulous about entering data, tracking data, and analyzing client data are crucial components. Those with a background or working knowledge of real estate, the D.C market or housing policies/programs should do well in this position.

Responsibilities:

• Client Case Management, Logging client information into computer database

• Client coaching, one on one counseling and follow ups as motivators/reminders

• Tracking client progress•Creating (and updating) Action Plans, Budgets and Savings Strategies for clients

• Attend Workshops, Tier Classes, 4-8 Hour Trainings

• Facilitate Workshop and provide presentations

• Provide reporting to supervisors, management and funders as requested

• Provide feedback to Director on existing programs

• Maintain Program Management & Promo􀆟on of housing programs and developments

• Assist in website management (updating events & home buyer educa􀆟on programming changes)

• Assist in Manna’s advocacy efforts and consensus-building on affordable housing programs specific to homeownership, which may include collabora􀆟on with the Director of Strategic Partnerships. Identify problems, proposed solutions, and share better practices to influence and advocate for housing policies that drive Manna’s agenda.

• Coordinate the marke􀆟ng and sales of Manna’s homeownership units in collaboration with Manna’s real estateteam, as units become available. Currently Manna anticipates the marketing and sales of 30 condo units uponconstruction completion targeted for Q4 2024 or Q1 2025.

• Willingness to support and participate in Manna’s volunteer programming and/or community development activities as requested.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• HUD Certification - Housing Counselor

• Working knowledge of homeownership programs offered by local governments in DC & MD

• NeighborWorks Housing Counselor Certificate OR obtained within (90) days of hire•Strong case management and follow-through skills

• Computer savvy (excellent technology proficiency)

Preferred:

• 3+ years’ experience as a Housing Counselor, or Administrator

• Experienced with Salesforce, Homekeeper, or other client management software

• Familiarity with home purchase process and mortgage process

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Calendar

Work environment/Location:

In office for the first 90 days; “Hybrid” therea􀅌er.

Compensation:

$65,000 - $75,000 per year commensurate with experience

• Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday - Friday)
