Homeownership

Transcending racial intergenerational wealth through Homeownership

Manna was founded on the premise that affordable homeownership builds assets for families, revitalizes distressed neighborhoods, stabilizes housing costs, and builds generational wealth. The 2020 Urban Institute study on Closing the Gaps shows that homeownership plays a bigger role in wealth for black families than it does for white families. Significant policy interventions and production goals are needed through public private partnerships to address these wealth disparities. As the leading non-profit developer of affordable ownership housing in Washington D.C., Manna takes pride in its work to address these disparities.
